Published Mar 29, 2022

In the first match every for the Flower City Union club, it was a special day despite the outcome. The Union opened their inaugural season at home at the Rochester Community Sports Complex against fellow 2022 expansion team, AC Syracuse Pulse. With being neighbors to the East, this matchup has been deemed the "Thruway Derby."

THe Union came out strong at the start of the match with several great chances on goal by Sobers-Assue, Canas-Jarquin, Veerakone and Fernandes. Ortega held it down in our net, making some amazing saves to hold off AC Syracuse. With a goal early into the second half (46'), the Union struggled to get chances like in the first half. In the 58th minute, AC Syracuse's Kaio Dasilva was issued a red card and the Union were up a man for the remainder of the second half. Sparce chances and an inability to find feet by the Union before time expriring in the second half left the outcome, 1-0 AC Syracuse.

We will be back for redemption.
